Carla Machado quer tombar Santuário de Nossa Srª da Penha como patrimônio do RJ
A deputada estadual Carla Machado (PT) apresentou um projeto de lei na Alerj que dispõe sobre o tombamento do Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Penha, em Atafona, como patrimônio histórico, cultural e religioso do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. A proposta está sob análise das comissões de Constituição e Justiça; e de Assuntos Municipais e de Desenvolvimento Regional. Existe a expectativa de que a aprovação ocorra até a festa, uma das maiores do Norte Fluminense, que neste ano ocorre entre os dias 9 e 17 de abril.
Pela proposta da ex-prefeita de São João da Barra, o tombamento inclui o Santuário e todo seu acervo e equipamentos. A partir da aprovação, ficará proibida qualquer destruição ou descaracterização do imóvel, preservando-se suas características originais.
A deputada Carla Machado faz parte do quadro de irmãos da Irmandade de Nossa Senhora da Penha.
Procissão é patrimônio imaterial
Desde de 2016 (aqui), a procissão terrestre de Nossa Senhora da Penha, padroeira de Atafona, é patrimônio cultural imaterial do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O tombamento, proposto pelo deputado estadual Bruno Dauaire (hoje, União), atual secretário estadual de Habitação, foi aprovado pela Alerj em março daquele ano.
