Rodrigo Pacheco é reeleito presidente do Senado
O senador Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD) foi reeleito, nesta quarta-feira (1º), presidente no Senado. Na disputa interna, ele bateu o ex-ministro bolsonarista Rogério Marinho (PL). A votação terminou 49 a 32.
A eleição ocorreu na segunda reunião preparatória desta quarta-feira, dia que marcou também a posse dos senadores eleitos em outubro de 2022 e o início do ano legislativo na Casa. Pacheco derrotou Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) e Eduardo Girão (Podemos-CE). Esse último chegou a discursar como candidato, mas retirou sua candidatura em seguida para apoiar Marinho.
Pacheco venceu por 49 votos contra 32. Não houve votos em branco. O resultado não trouxe grandes surpresas em relação às estimativas prévias. Pacheco tinha apoio da maioria dos partidos da Casa, inclusive o PT, MDB e seu partido, o PSD, duas das maiores bancadas. Do outro lado, Marinho tinha apoio do PL. Há cerca de uma semana, esperava-se uma vitória do senador do PSD por 55 votos, uma margem bem maior do que a obtida. Marinho contava com “traições” para virar o jogo. As traições, senadores que contrariam a orientação de apoio do seu partido, ocorreram, mas não foram suficientes.
Em seu pronunciamento após a recondução ao cargo, Pacheco condenou o que chamou de “polarização tóxica” vigente no Brasil. Atribuiu a ela os atos terroristas na Esplanada dos Ministérios em 8 de janeiro e afirmou que tais acontecimentos “não podem e não vão se repetir”.
“Os brasileiros precisam voltar a divergir civilizadamente, precisam reconhecer com absoluta sobriedade quando derrotados e precisam respeitar a autoridade das instituições públicas. Só há ordem se assim o fizerem. Só há patriotismo se assim o fizerem. Só há humanidade se assim o fizerem”, disse presidente reeleito. Em seguida, Pacheco atribuiu à classe política a responsabilidade de combater práticas antidemocráticas.
“O discurso de ódio, o discurso mentiroso, o discurso golpista deve ser desestimulado, desmentido e combatido. Lideranças políticas que possuem compromisso com o Brasil sabem disso. Lideranças políticas que possuem compromisso com o futuro do Brasil não podem se omitir nesse momento”, disse. “E o recado que o Senado Federal dá ao Brasil agora é que manteremos a defesa intransigente da democracia”.
